Live Webinar: Beyond Skills: Introduction to Dialectical Behavior Therapy

This interactive 3-hour training provides an introduction to Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), an evidence-based treatment developed to help individuals with intense emotions, impulsive behaviors, and relationship difficulties. Participants will learn the theoretical foundations of DBT, explore the four core skill modules, and understand how comprehensive DBT programs are structured. The training will combine lecture, discussion, and experiential activities to give participants both the knowledge and practical tools to begin integrating DBT concepts into their work and resources for additional training.

Objectives Include:
-Participants will learn the core theoretical foundations of DBT, including the biosocial model and dialectical philosophy.
-Participants will be able to summarize the key components of a comprehensive DBT program, including individual therapy, skills training groups, phone coaching, and consultation team.

-Participants will be able to name and outline the purpose of the four skills modules, Mindfulness, Distress Tolerance, Emotion Regulation, and Interpersonal Effectiveness.

This course meets criteria for 3 hours of general continuing education by the Oklahoma Board of Behavioral Health for Oklahoma LPC and LMFT license holders, by the Oklahoma State Board of Licensed Social Workers (provider #20250088) for Oklahoma LCSW license holders, by the Oklahoma Board of Licensed Drug and Alcohol Counselors (certificate #20260018) for LADC and CADC license holders (3 hours non-specific CEs), and for Oklahoma case managers (3 hours general CEs). 3 Hours NBCC CEs.

Laura Byler, MS, LPC, NCC, DBT-LBC

Laura Byler, MS, LPC, NCC, DBT-LBC specializes in the delivery of Dialectical Behavior Therapy to treat disorders of emotion regulation, primarily Borderline Personality Disorder. During her ten years of practice in an agency setting, Laura recognized a deficit in available treatments for BPD and began her journey into learning DBT. Laura formed a DBT peer consultation team and developed adult and teen DBT programs within the agency setting. Laura continues to serve as the leader of her consultation team and now practices at Tulsa Dialectical Behavior Therapy, LLC, the group private practice she founded, as well as Nashville DBT, a division of Tulsa DBT. As an LPC-candidate supervisor, she is committed to advancing the capabilities and training of other therapists in the adherent application of DBT. Laura earned both her undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. She is recognized as a DBT-Linehan Board of Certification, Certified Clinician™ and holds active licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Tennessee. Laura is a proud dog mom to her mini poodle, Curly, enjoys traveling, and loves to make a mess with DIY projects. An Arkansas native, Laura now resides in Franklin, TN.
