Boundaries and Ethical Obligations in the Therapeutic Relationship

In-Person Workshop Saturday June 1st, 2024 from 2:00 to 5:15 PM

This workshop will address boundaries and ethical obligations in the therapeutic relationship. Specific focus will be on modeling boundaries as a therapist, addressing avoidance and non-compliance, and exploring self-awareness in overcoming codependent thinking and behavior as a therapist.

Objectives Include:
-Being aware of power imbalance in the therapeutic relationship and creating a climate of collaboration.
-Understanding and being aware of personal values, so as not to project those onto clients in therapy.
-Addressing avoidance and ambivalence when it comes to clients making progress in therapy.
-Modeling boundaries as a therapist.

This course meets criteria for 3 hours of ethics continuing education by the Oklahoma Board of Behavioral Health for Oklahoma LPC and LMFT license holders, by the Oklahoma State Board of Licensed Social Workers (provider #20240088) for Oklahoma LCSW license holders, by the Oklahoma Board of Licensed Drug and Alcohol Counselors (certificate #20240018) for LADC and CADC license holders (3 hours ethics CEs), and for Oklahoma case managers (3 hours ethics/strength-based CEs).

Lisa King has spent more than 25 years, having lived, taught, counseled, served and worked, with individuals from all walks of life in North America, Latin America, and Asia. Along with being a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, Lisa specializes specifically in the following areas: Trauma, PTSD, Religious and Spiritual Abuse, Codependency, Attachment, Identity, Abuse, Neglect, Cultural Adjustment Issues and Addiction. Lisa is a gifted communicator and experienced in personal and professional development, team building, strategic planning and crisis management. In addition, Lisa has extensive experience working with first responders, military and military veterans.

Lisa received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Capella University. She is passionate about utilizing CPT (Cognitive Processing Therapy) to challenge stuck points and faulty ways of thinking and to help people find and experience transformational healing and hope.

Lisa facilitates Therapy Intensive Workshops: Mindful Transformation: Redefining your Trauma and Free To Be Me: Rescuing Yourself From Codependency. Utilizing a collaborative approach, Lisa encourages individuals to identify problematic patterns of thinking and to begin establishing coping strategies that encourage personal growth and self-care. Lisa also provides individual therapy services in the Community Based Services Clinic at Santé Center for Healing as well.
