Northcare is further expanding into Edmond by opening a mental health urgent care in early 2024. As outlined in a previous article, the facility will be part of Oklahoma’s Comprehensive Crisis Response Continuum, a statewide initiative that aims to increase access to outpatient and crisis mental health services. The facility will be located at 15th and Kelly in Edmond and is set to offer resources for both outpatient and crisis care.

The urgent care is being built with both safety and comfort in mind. A discrete entrance will allow law enforcement officers to usher in those in crisis safely and confidentially. The facility will be equipped with comfortable recliners and televisions for adults in crisis to stay securely under the watchful eye of clinicians while awaiting treatment or referrals. The children’s unit will have multiple private rooms with furniture and accommodations for both the child and the parent or guardian accompanying them. The entire crisis unit is also a simple walk down the hall from the outpatient therapy clinic.

The urgent care will also have multiple offices for mental health providers to render outpatient services. A client receiving outpatient counseling at the clinic who experiences suicidal ideation will be able to receive crisis care without leaving the building. Along with counseling, the urgent care will also offer outpatient medication management.

Vice President of Growth Connie Schlittler, Clinical Director Agata Flynt, and the entire Northcare team are looking forward to serving the community of Edmond and beyond. The urgent care is set to open in February of 2024 and currently hiring licensed mental health professionals, nursing professionals, mental health technicians, peer recovery support specialists, and case managers.
