Metro Organizations Offer Holiday Support to Oklahoma Families 

According to a 2022 survey, 39% of American households struggle to afford gifts during the holiday season. Thankfully, many Oklahoma City metro non-profit organizations offer gifts, food, and clothing assistance to those in need. Read more on the Counseling Institute website 

 

New Mental Health Urgent Care Center to Open in Tulsa 

Last week, Grand Mental Health announced the opening of the 24/7 Urgent Recovery Center. The facility is equipped with a nine-bed crisis wing, a sobering center for those experiencing substance abuse struggles, and a team of therapists and other support staff. New Research Suggests Tinnitus May Contribute to Psychological Issues 

Tinnitus is a condition in which an individual experiences constant buzzing or ringing in their ears. According to a recent study, the health condition may lead to anxiety, depression, and somatic symptoms in those afflicted. Learn more on Psychology Today. 

 

Research Reiterates the Importance of Sleep for Mental Health Maintenance 

Along with affecting physical health, getting adequate sleep may also be helpful in improving and maintaining good mental health. Recent research suggests that sleeping less than 7 hours per night can exacerbate the symptoms of mental health conditions, such as Bipolar Disorder, anxiety disorders, and ADHD. Airline Pilots Advocating for Access to Mental Health Treatment 

Last week, aviation professionals met in Washington D.C. to discuss Federal Aviation Administration regulations that reportedly deter pilots from seeking mental healthcare. Advocates say that many pilots choose to not receive mental health or substance abuse treatment out of fear of losing their flight certification and being unable to work.
